Shown above is the Nathan K3LA locomotive air horn. It has the two largest bells that are on the K5LA five chime horn and then a either a #3 bell or a 4A bell and is similar in power and performance to the five chime units except that it three bells instead of five. The standard musical chord for the K3LA is as follows:
D# F# and B. The K3HA is similar but has a higher base or manifold. If the suffix "A" which means "American tuning" is missing, then the horn is for Canadian railroads and sounds the notes D# F# and A#. Check these out on the virtual testing piano on the horn pitches page.
